Nelson Propels Texas to 3-1 Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins. Texas won it, 3-1. Texas starter Gavin Nelson was in command. Brad Kramer collected save number 3. Minnesota now has a record of 7-16.
Nelson, a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was dealing all game. He kept Minnesota hitters off-balance, while giving the Rangers 7.1 quality innings. Nelson threw 119 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 8.
Afterward, Rangers manager Juan Smith III was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
