Kalman Shines in 9-1 Chicago Win
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Miami Marlins by the score of 9-1, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Josh Kalman. Kalman was 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Cubs. The Marlins fall to 11-15 and continue to sputter in the early going.
With Chicago leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Kalman hit a fastball from Timóteo Metzener for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 7-0.
In postgame comments to the Chicago Citizen, Kalman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
