Blue Jays Get Past Montreal for 2-1 Win
|
Montreal pitcher Steve Barrett gave the Blue Jays all they could handle, but in the end, Toronto left Rogers Centre with a win, 2-1. Barrett allowed no runs on 3 hits over 6 innings. The winner was Toronto reliever Hoof Harted, now 3-0. The loser was Jakub Kvacek. Early on, the Blue Jays, at 22-6, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
Toronto won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Jakub Kvacek on the mound for Montreal, second baseman Michael Byrd hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Blue Jays fans to their feet.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Montreal manager Robb Dixon said following the tough loss.
