Toyota 5-for-5 for Cardinals
Thursday, October 3rd , 2047
After a 5-hit effort to lead St. Louis's 11-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, left fielder Ichiro Toyota told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Major League Baseball-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at PNC Park with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Pirates.
"His swing is getting there," said Cardinals skipper Jeff Jones Jr., who spoke glowingly of Toyota after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ichiro did that to perfection today."
Ichiro Toyota singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Toyota is batting .265 this year with 10 home runs, 44 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has 113 hits in 427 at-bats.
