Division Series Game 1 Victory for Salas and Chicago
|
The stakes were high. Ricky Salas was ready.
The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at U.S. Cellular Field today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Chicago White Sox to victory in Game 1 of the Division Series. Salas held the Minnesota Twins to no hits and no walks, while striking out 17. The win got the best-of-5 series off to a good start for Chicago, which now leads 1-0.
The Twins had trouble solving Salas, who surrendered no runs on no hits over 9 innings.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Chicago manager Jake Turnbull said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
