Clippers Blank Tacoma, Shiba Winner
Sunday, June 28th , 2048
In an outstanding mound performance, Columbus Clippers starter Kensaku Shiba fired a complete-game shutout against the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium today.
Shiba was the key to the Clippers's 6-0 win. The 24-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 3 hits and 1 walk he allowed.
"3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
For the season Shiba has made 9 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 4-0 won-lost mark and a 1.91 ERA. In pitching 56.2 innings, he has totaled 49 strikeouts and 25 walks.
