Columbus Ace Named AL Most Valuable Player Award

A pitcher being voted the most valuable player in his league is a rare feat, and this year it did indeed happen. The 2048 American League Most Valuable Player Award has gone to Columbus Clippers ace Josh Hoeye after a stellar 21-8 season.

In 32 starts he piled up 244.2 innings, 196 strikeouts, 69 walks and a 2.50 ERA. Hoeye held opposing hitters to a .229 batting average and compiled a 5.0 WAR along the way.

He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 30. Jesus Lozano of the Columbus Clippers finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Dominik Hasek II of the Buffalo Bisons finished third with 1 first place vote.
