Toellner Hurls No-Hitter Against Yankees
Tuesday, December 29th , 2048
There was magic on the mound today at George M. Steinbrenner Field as Houston (WIN) Astros starter David Toellner no-hit the New York (WIN) Yankees.

Toellner held New York (WIN) hitters spellbound and helpless in a masterful display of pitching, leading the Astros to a 2-0 win.

"It was like I was in a dream," Toellner said afterward. "The ball just went right where I wanted it to."

In his mound masterpiece, Toellner rang up 15 strikeouts and issued 2 walks.

Toellner's record this season is 4-and-0 with no saves and a 1.64 ERA. He has given up 17 hits in 38.1 innings with 58 strikeouts.
Jones at His Best, Blanks Pittsburgh (WIN)
Tuesday, December 29th , 2048
Cory Jones had the Pittsburgh (WIN) Pirates dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 4-0 shutout performance for the Washington (WIN) Nationals. He gave up 3 hits, issued no walks and had 16 strikeouts.

Pittsburgh (WIN) hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.

"When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point," opposing manager Edgar Dena said. "We just never figured him out."
