Angels Spellbound, Sandoval Hurls No-Hitter
Thursday, January 9th , 2048
Josh Sandoval really did a number on the Los Angeles (WIN) Angels at Roger Dean Stadium today -- and that number was zero.
The St. Louis (WIN) Cardinals hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Cardinals to victory, 6-0.
"This is something special," Sandoval said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The right-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 13 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Los Angeles (WIN) manager Reggie Wilson said when asked about the epic performance. "Sandoval was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
Sandoval has made 7 starts, tossed 44.2 innings, struck out 67 batters and walked 16. His record is 3-4 with a 6.25 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .240 batting average.
