5-Hit Game for Cordle Wednesday, January 1st , 2048 Tim Cordle knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Peoria Sports Complex today, he made his case to be considered among that group. The 22-year-old third baseman hammered 5 hits in 8 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Oakland (WIN) Athletics fell, 4-0, to the San Diego (WIN) Padres. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Padres manager Jonathan Arias told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Cordle wasn't the difference." Tim Cordle singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 14th, struck out in the 17th, was hit by a pitch in the 19th and flied out in the 21st. Thus far this season Cordle has hit .366 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 11 times. |
