Mensah Strokes 5 Hits
Sunday, November 1st , 2048
Dejenie Mensah knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Reckling Park today, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 18-year-old starting pitcher hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Rice University Owls fell, 11-10, to the UCLA Bruins.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Bruins manager Juan Smith Jr. told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Mensah wasn't the difference."
Dejenie Mensah singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Mensah has made 12 starts so far this year and put up a 8-1 won-lost record with a 3.03 ERA. In 68.1 innings he has allowed 49 hits, walked 21 and struck out 55.
