Renteria in Command, No-Hits Bruins Tuesday, December 29th , 2048 Rice University Owls starter Frank Renteria came up big today at Reckling Park with an exceptional 4-0 outing against the UCLA Bruins. Not only did he whip them, but Renteria held them hitless, too. "My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Renteria. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens." In the course of the no-hitter, Renteria collected 13 strikeouts and surrendered 4 walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books. His record this season is 8-6 in 20 starts and Renteria has a 4.31 ERA. |
