Catoe King of Fling with No-Hitter Thursday, November 4th , 2049 Jay Catoe really did a number on the University of Oklahoma Sooners at L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park today -- and that number was zero. The University of Conneticut Huskies hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Huskies to victory, 7-0. "This is something special," Catoe said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look." The right-hander faced only 29 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 9 and walked 1. "We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," University of Oklahoma manager Alex Katz said when asked about the epic performance. "Catoe was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number." This season Catoe has registered 4 wins and 4 losses in 15 starts with a 2.00 ERA. |
