Thrilling Win Pushes Coastal Carolina University to Next Round Saturday, January 23rd , 2049 Johnnie Cowan was a picture of composure and ferocity on the mound during the Wildcard. Off the mound, with a 5-1 victory secured and his Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers having just eliminated the Florida State University Seminoles, he couldn't help but smile. "It was all business when I was on the mound, but now I can relax, knowing we made it through," he said. "I don't remember being as focused on any start in my career as I was tonight." That focus paid off, as the Coastal Carolina University starter was named MVP as he threw 7 innings, with 3 strikeouts, while allowing 3 hits, 3 walks and 1 run. Florida State University manager Eric Charles gave Cowan credit for the strong effort and said it's not how his club envisioned the season coming to an end. "You tip your cap to them and try to learn from it," he said solemnly. The Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers will play against the Louisiana State University Tigers in the next round. Louisiana State University had a bye in the Wildcard. The Quarter-Finals schedule will be announced after the Wildcard finishes. |
