University of Florida Ace Named ORI Most Valuable Player Award
Tuesday, March 2nd , 2049
The best could still be yet to come for Nelson Carachure of the University of Florida Gators, and that's the scary part.
At the age of only 19, the ace pitcher has accomplished a major feat, being named the 2048 Division 1 Most Valuable Player Award winner.
His breakthrough campaign saw him put up a 12-8 record, while pitching 145.1 innings, with 195 strikeouts and 19 walks, for a 1.11 ERA. Carachure was tough on hitters all season long, as they only put up a .141 batting average against him.
"I had a lot of fun this season," the young talent said.
He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 18. Luis Flores of the Oregon State University Beavers finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Zion Jones of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers finished third with 2 first place votes.
