August Tosses Shutout Against Reds
Sunday, July 10th , 2050
All went well for Dave August of the Hillsboro Hops as he pitched his team to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Cincinnati (NYP) Reds, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about August on the day.
"Dave's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Hops manager Brian Morrison. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Hillsboro right-hander rang up 7 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Reds manager R.J. Swindle. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This season August has a 9-3 mark in 15 starts with a 2.85 ERA. He has given up 81 hits in 107.1 innings, struck out 122 and issued 16 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .208 batting average against him.
