Who Says Nobody's Perfect? Wednesday, August 10th , 2050 Spokane Indians starter Raul Sanchez was as good as a pitcher can be today, as he hurled a perfect game against the Los Angeles (NYP) Angels. In doing so, Sanchez accomplished one of the most difficult feats in baseball and one that will put his name in the record books. "I can tell you I've dreamed about a day like this," Sanchez told the press after the game. "Now that I've done it, the feeling is even better." In his splendid 19-0 victory at Avista Stadium, Sanchez yielded no hits, walked none and had 12 strikeouts. In the historic outing he retired 27 successive batters. To this point in the season, Sanchez has rung up no saves in no relief appearances. He has also crafted a 1.32 ERA, 14 wins and no losses and 167 strikeouts in 129.2 innings. |
