Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Tuesday, August 16th , 2050
Yesterday at Las Palmas Complex Hiroki Yamamoto and Eduardo Lopez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Los Angeles (NYP) Dodgers and Williamsport Crosscutters. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Yamamoto will have to sit out 3 while Lopez would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This season Yamamoto has hit at a .275 clip and produced 43 RBI, 1 home run and 40 runs.
To date, Lopez has collected 58 hits for a .235 average. He has posted 2 home runs, scored 33 runs and driven in 21 runs.
