Smallwood on Fire, Strikes out 15 Black Bears Sunday, September 4th , 2050 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Jason Smallwood, the Tri-City Dust Devils topped the West Virginia Black Bears today by a score of 5-1 at Gesa Stadium. The 27-year-old Smallwood brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 4 hits and giving up 3 walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Black Bears manager Kevin Gausman said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." This year Smallwood has compiled a 14-7 mark with a 2.51 ERA in 28 starts. |
