Poetry in Motion: Duncan Pitches Perfect Game
Saturday, September 10th , 2050
Over the course of baseball history, some moments stand a little taller than others. One of those moments happened today at Avista Stadium.

Spokane right-hander Ray Duncan threw a perfect game at as the Indians beat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 6-0. In his post-game comments, Duncan told reporters that it was something he had never dreamed of.

"As a kid, you always think of pitching to win the final game of a championship," Duncan said. "You never think of pitching a perfect game, because it just seems unattainable. I'll remember this day for the rest of my life."

By the end of the game, Duncan had rung up 17 Tri-City hitters on strikeouts, and did not allow a single baserunner. The fans gave Duncan a standing ovation as he left the mound, knowing they had witnessed one of the rarest events in the sport.

Taking a look at his season, Duncan has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 18-1 won-lost mark and a 1.87 ERA. In pitching 187.1 innings, he has totaled 224 strikeouts and 33 walks.
