Martin Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter Monday, September 12th , 2050 Tim Martin relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Tri-City hitless in a 11-0 win at Avista Stadium today. "Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the ValleyCats off balance and guessing the whole game." The 35-year-old starter rung up 12 strikeouts and 3 walks in whipping the ValleyCats. "When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Tri-City skipper Gregory Guerrero said. This season Martin has chalked up no saves, notched a 17-2 record with a 1.49 ERA, allowed 79 hits in his 180.2 innings of work, struck out 250 and walked 37. Opponents are hitting .131 against the Spokane hurler. |
