Salem-Keizer's Mike Sammons Calling it Quits
Friday, September 23rd , 2050
Mike Sammons announced his retirement today according to sources inside the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes organization.
Sammons, who is 38 years old, gave reporters some of his plans for the near future.
"I'm going to do a lot of hunting and fishing," he said. "I've always been focused on getting ready for the next season, so maybe now I can slow down and enjoy time away from it all."
Sammons went back and forth with the press in a friendly manner during his press conference.
"I'm sure there's a small-mouth bass out there with my name on it," he said.
Sammons has a lifetime average of .220, has played in 254 games, and has collected 12 home runs and 81 RBIs.
