Meyer Sizzles in No-Hitter
Tuesday, October 11th , 2050
It was a fantastic day for Hillsboro Hops starter John Meyer and a lousy day for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
The Hillsboro hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Volcanoes, as the Hops cruised to a 4-0 win. When it was all over, Meyer was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.
"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Meyer said later.
He rang up 9 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk while shutting Salem-Keizer down at Ron Tonklin Field.
This season Meyer is 14-and-5 with no saves and a 2.95 ERA. He has given up 130 hits in 167.2 innings with 229 strikeouts.
