For fans of the Hillsboro Hops, there was certainly no doubting the value of Jason Englert this season.
Now the 29-year-old pitcher has an award to show just how valuable he was, as he's been named the 2050 National League Most Valuable Player Award winner.
His remarkable campaign saw him put up a 16-6 record. In 28 starts he piled up 193 innings, had 209 strikeouts with 47 walks and a 2.10 ERA. Englert held opposing hitters to a .188 batting average and compiled a 5.8 WAR.
He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 30. Adam Eisen of the Batavia Muckdogs finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Dave August of the Hillsboro Hops finished third with 1 first place vote.
