Thomas Batters San Diego (APP) for 5 Hits Thursday, August 25th , 2050 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Jess Thomas today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Las Américas Complex, but the performance lost a little luster when the Nationals were downed 8-7 by the San Diego (APP) Padres. After his glittering performance, the Washington (APP) center fielder told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Thomas said. Jess Thomas singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a two-run triple in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Randy Latendresse in the 7th and singled in the 9th. For the season Thomas is hitting .280, batted in 29 runs with 4 home runs and 24 runs scored. |
