Going Once! Twice! Gone Again! 3 HR for Wipf Monday, September 26th , 2050 Fans are still buzzing after San Diego (APP) whipped the Helena Brewers by the score of 8-2 today at San Diego Padres Complex. Steve Wipf smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the catcher bashed out 4 hits in 4 at-bats, had 5 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Wipf said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Wipf said. "Three is just... wow." Steve Wipf singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Heraclio Sosa in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Kurth in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Mario Ayala in the 7th. For the year Wipf is hitting .351 with 57 home runs. His stats include 151 runs batted in and 117 runs scored. |
