3 Bombs for Terrell Smith
Sunday, October 9th , 2050
Some days you can't have it all, as Miami (APP) Marlins right fielder Terrell Smith discovered when he cracked three homers against the Kingsport Mets today, and still lost.
"I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game."
The 21-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Mets walked away with the 8-7 triumph at Hunter Wright Stadium. Smith finished the day with 3 hits in 3 at-bats and 6 RBIs.
"I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview.
Terrell Smith walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Luca Cunti Jr. in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Ken Tayo in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ken Tayo in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
So far this season, Smith has recorded a .383 batting average with 152 hits, 47 home runs, 144 RBIs, 108 runs scored and a .492 OBP.
