Callahan Socks It to Braves, Cracks 5 Hits
Thursday, October 13th , 2050
The Kingsport Mets stopped the Danville Braves by a score of 11-2 at American Legion Field today, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Sam Callahan. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Callahan said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Callahan did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Braves.
"Not much that I can say," offered Danville manager Chris Sharpe. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Sam Callahan singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
So far this season Callahan has hit .348 with 27 home runs, 84 RBIs and scored 161 times.
