Philadelphia (APP) Phillies shortstop Ray Nichter put on a dazzling display of power today at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field against the Missoula Osprey. In the 22-11 Phillies victory Nichter penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Missoula manager Adam Burke said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 18-year-old had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Nichter said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Ray Nichter flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Xavier Reed in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Xavier Reed in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Henry Jesso in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.

In his season totals Nichter has 49 home runs and a .240 batting average.
