Red Sox, Angels Trade Star Players Friday, July 22nd , 2050 Players had to say quick good-byes to their teammates this morning after learning that Boston had traded 24-year old minor league LF Dave Burwell to Angels for 32-year old C Avery Maxwell. Club officials for both teams told reporters the major swap was finalized over the past two days after a week of negotiations. Boston will retain a portion of Burwell's remaining contract. California will retain a portion of Maxwell's remaining contract. Burwell is currently batting .216 with 1 home run, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has 8 hits in 37 at-bats. Maxwell currently has a .236 batting average with 50 hits, 9 homers, 20 RBIs, 35 runs scored and a .336 OBP. |
