Friday, October 7th , 2050
Major League Baseball fans were certainly not disappointed with this American League Wildcard Series.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Kansas City Royals prevailing over the Montreal Expos to advance to the Division Series.
Kansas City won the final game by a score of 8-3 at Kauffman Stadium and that sealed the series 2-1.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said right fielder Roman Downey, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Downey hit .455 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Kansas City Royals will play against the Toronto Blue Jays in the next round. Toronto had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
