Velasco Jr. Smacks 3 Out of the Park
Wednesday, October 12th , 2050
Chicago left fielder Ruben Velasco Jr. saw a fantastic day go to waste at O.co Coliseum today as the White Sox dropped a 5-4 decision despite a trio of home runs from the youngster.
"It seems kinda odd, you know?" a somewhat dejected Velasco Jr. said after his club's defeat. "I mean, hitting three home runs in one game should be enough to win a game, right? I guess that's why they call it a team sport. Tomorrow I might strike out four times and other guys pick me up and we win. It takes more than one guy to get a win."
The 21-year-old tallied three homers in a 4-for-4 day, and added 3 RBIs and 3 scored.
"That guy really had a game, didn't he?" said Oakland manager Daryl S. Oakland. "Luckily we were able to shut down the rest of the team. We are feeling good about getting out of here with the win."
Ruben Velasco Jr. singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Corbin Schenn in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Corbin Schenn in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Nick Kirk in the 8th.
This season Velasco Jr. is hitting .289 with 132 hits, 34 home runs, 92 RBIs, scored 89 runs and played in 132 games.
