Friday, November 18th , 2050
Ben Meyer showed off his speed, his power and his plate discipline today at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, putting together all facets of his game to hit for the cycle in the Stanford University win.
The 17-year-old second baseman went 5-for-5, collecting 2 singles, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to help the Cardinal top the University of Toronto Marlies by a score of 13-0. A jubilant Meyer told reporters afterward that the experience was "unimaginable."
"Seriously, I would have been happy going 1-for-5 with just the double," he said. "So this feels incredible."
For the day, Meyer finished with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to go with his 5 hits.
Ben Meyer hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Luke Stannard in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
