Marlies End Huff's Streak Saturday, November 19th , 2050 The 21-game hitting streak of Stanford University Cardinal third baseman Philippe Huff came to an end today at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The University of Toronto Marlies held him hitless in 3 at-bats and also sent the Cardinal down to defeat, 7-3. Later, Huff acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one." Huff is hitting .275 this year with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .337, 21 walks and scored 31 times. |
