3-HR Dream Game for Black Monday, December 26th , 2050 Stanford University Cardinal catcher John Black slugged three home runs against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Gamecocks spoiled his day by defeating the Cardinal, 9-7. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game John had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Stanford University manager Gabriel Cramer. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing John, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Black was 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Black said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." John Black hit a two-run home run off Bob Conway in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Bob Conway in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Bob Conway in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. So far this season Black has hit .268 with 25 home runs, 62 RBIs and scored 52 times. |
