Duffy Rips Philadelphia (APP) for 5 Hits
Sunday, October 15th , 2045
After a 5-hit effort to lead Helena's 34-8 victory over the Philadelphia (APP) Phillies, left fielder Jerry Duffy told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."

The 20-year-old player earned his accolades today at Kindrick Legion Field with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Phillies.

"His swing is getting there," said Brewers skipper Andy Webster, who spoke glowingly of Duffy after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jerry did that to perfection today."

Jerry Duffy hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off Shirou Yoshida in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Shirou Yoshida in the 9th.

For the season Duffy is batting .353 with 61 hits and 22 home runs. He has scored 71 times and batted in 61.
