Schipper King of Fling with No-Hitter Tuesday, October 17th , 2045 Ferdi Schipper really did a number on the Greeneville Astros at Pioneer Park today -- and that number was zero. The Texas (APP) Rangers hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Rangers to victory, 23-1. "This is something special," Schipper said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look." The right-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 14 and walked 0. "We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Greeneville manager T.J. Weir said when asked about the epic performance. "Schipper was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number." This season Schipper has compiled a 13-3 mark with a 4.44 ERA in 21 starts. |
