Pacheco on Fire: 5-for-6 for Oakland (APP) Tuesday, October 17th , 2045 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Nick Pacheco, it came around today. The 24-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Juan Marichal Complex to pace the Oakland (APP) Athletics to a 29-1 victory over the Orem Owlz. Orem skipper Jose Valenzuela told reporters in the press room that "Pacheco deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Pacheco hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Nick Pacheco hit a two-run home run off Dean LeCroy in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Matthew Bale in the 2nd, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and hit a two-run double in the 6th. Presently Pacheco is batting .390 with 106 hits and 52 home runs. He has knocked in 143 runs and scored 124 times. |
