6-Hit Barrage by Shavkunov Friday, October 20th , 2045 The Bristol Pirates might think twice next time about pitching to Artyom Shavkunov. At Devault Memorial Stadium today, the Kingsport Mets catcher burned Bristol pitching, going 6-for-7 in a 28-4 Kingsport triumph. "When he's on his game," Kingsport skipper Ricky Caldevilla told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded." Artyom Shavkunov hit a two-run single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. In 118 games Shavkunov is hitting .432 this season with 225 hits, 3 home runs, 127 RBIs, 77 walks, .508 OBP and has scored 143 runs. |
