Mozgo No-Hits Pirates
Tuesday, October 24th , 2045
Ioakim Mozgo relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Bristol hitless in a 29-0 win at American Legion Field today.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Pirates off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 20-year-old starter rung up 20 strikeouts and 3 walks in whipping the Pirates.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Bristol skipper said.
Mozgo has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 11-4 record with a 4.57 ERA. The Danville reliever has limited opposing batters to a .198 batting average.
