Red Sox Get Past New York for 2-1 Win
|
Fenway Park was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
In a tight game between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, nobody was more important for the winners than Kevin McCormic Jr.. McCormic Jr. was masterful in the 2-1 win. Guadalupe Vasguez converted his 29th save in 36 tries.
McCormic Jr. had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 slider from Steve Grier, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. It was the 31st home run of the year for McCormic Jr..
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said New York skipper Vince Deyzel.
Boston raised its record to 82-72 with the win.
